The Organization for Humanitarian Assistance and Development (OHAD) was founded in 2018 by a group of Afghan volunteers and formally registered with the Ministry of Economy in 2020. As a non-profit, non-governmental, and non-political organization, OHAD is dedicated to supporting vulnerable communities across Afghanistan. Over the years, its work has expanded from emergency humanitarian aid to include livelihoods, education, legal assistance, gender equity, food security, agriculture, and capacity building. Guided by a vision of a just and prosperous Afghanistan, OHAD continues to empower individuals and communities through sustainable development and humanitarian initiatives.
The OHAD helps people to survive, recover and rebuild their lives.
people whose lives have been upended by war, conflict and natural disasters
in countries where people don’t have the support they need to recover from crisis
within 72 hours, staying to help countries stabilize and people rebuild their lives
Our mission is to empower vulnerable communities in Afghanistan by enhancing their coping mechanisms, promoting social justice, and advocating for positive policy and institutional change. We strive to create lasting opportunities in education, livelihoods, and development so people can live with dignity and hope.
OHAD is committed to making education accessible for children in rural areas, with a special focus on empowering girls. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and shape their future. By providing resources, support, and awareness, we aim to break barriers to education and build stronger, more self-reliant communities.
At OHAD, we believe that every family deserves dignity, stability, and the opportunity to thrive. Many families in our communities face extreme poverty, struggling each day to provide food, shelter, education, and healthcare for their children. Our aim is not only to ease their immediate hardships but also to empower them with opportunities for a brighter and more secure future. By standing with poor families, we foster hope, resilience, and progress in society.
OHAD recognizes the critical role of agriculture in sustaining communities and boosting local economies. We are committed to promoting sustainable agricultural practices that not only increase food security but also protect the environment. Through our agriculture programs, we support farmers, promote eco-friendly farming techniques, and empower rural communities to achieve long-term growth and self-sufficiency.
OHAD is dedicated to helping vulnerable families rebuild their lives after hardship or crisis. Through rehabilitation programs, we provide support, training, and resources to restore hope and create sustainable livelihoods. We focus on long-term recovery by equipping individuals with the skills and opportunities needed to live with dignity and independence.
OHAD is committed to providing immediate and effective support to communities affected by natural disasters, crises, and emergencies. We believe that timely assistance can save lives, reduce suffering, and help communities recover more quickly. Through our emergency relief programs, we offer vital resources and work closely with local teams to provide support when it is needed the most.
At OHAD, we are dedicated to empowering communities through sustainable development initiatives that enhance their capacity to thrive. Our development programs are focused on addressing the root causes of poverty, inequality, and lack of access to basic services. Through innovative approaches, we work alongside local communities to build sustainable, long-term solutions.
